Responsibilities Provide a full range of chemical and process technical support for the customer, sales and internal projects and initiatives in leather, pulp and paper, water treatments, petrochemicals and food and beverage. Technical DutiesRoutine analysis of pulp and paper samples for pitch and stickies by flow cytometry.Routine analysis of wet blue leather samples for the content of chromium(III) oxide, percentage of fats and grease and the efficacy of (Benzothiazol-2-ylthio) methylthiocyanat (TCMTB) in inhibiting mould growth on leather.Manage project work for procuring and sustaining business contracts from various customers such as:• Removal and inhibition of gypsum scale on a falling film evaporator simulator for Sasol.• Application of flocculants and coagulants for the solid/liquid separation on effluents from different water processes, coal sludge dewatering, raw sugar mill juice and syrup.• Application of emulsifiers for the liquid-liquid separation of oil from water on reserve water. • Application of deformers, emulsifiers and dispersants for the lime mud water recovery processes.• Application of enzymes and bio-augmentation for the treatment of poultry effluent.• Inhibition and reduction of corrosion on cooling water towers, air water towers and coke ovens and the investigation of the influence of fluorides on corrosion rate in brackish water.Proficient in the use of chemical instruments such as: Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (FAAS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Spectrophotometry (HACH) and Flow Cytometry.Report writing and product recommendation for Technical Sales Representatives.
