After having twice temporarily been a part of the Visit Bruges marketing department I moved to this team full time in January 2016. * Until 2019 my job mainly focused on coordinating the production of Bruges' offical city guide. A 160 page travel guide book which we published in 6 languages and distributed both nationally and internationally through Lannoo Publishers. * In 2022 we launched the successor of our city guide: a walking guide in 6 languages (Dutch, French, German, English, Spanish & Italian). It includes Bruges' history in a nutshell and 4 themed walking tours. I managed the entire process from start to finish. Furthermore I am responsible for:* the yearly update of our multilingual official tourist map.* our yearly digital survey to collect information from POI and make sure this content gets translated and processed in our tourism data management system. * content on our Virtual Bruges 360° website. This includes accompanying the photographer on shoots in the city and feeding the CMS system with content in multiple languages. * content creation for our Visit Bruges Route App.* coordinating the realisation of our 'Bruges, accessible to everyone' brochure.Other tasks include: * being the SPOC for copywriting and translation agencies + back-up SPOC for our photographer. * working in tanden with our webmaster to optimise the content of our visitor website.

To cover the gap between the departure of our webmaster and the arrival of his successor I became temporarily responsible for our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and YouTube), with primary focus on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. At that time we posted a few times a week. Even though it was meant for a couple of months only I managed our social media for 3 years on a daily basis as an extra task. During that time we ramped up the frequency of our posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in particular and as a result saw the number of followers on our channels steadily rise.Since 2018 we have a dedicated full time social media coordinator.

Over a 6 month period I was temporarily responsible for the tourist office print communication, with focus on the city's tourist guide book and tourist map 2016, as well as updating our group brochure 2016.

During my time on the Incoming department my time was divided between:* front office tasks: welcoming international visitors and providing them with tailored tourist information, assist with problems, give directions, find available lodging, offer (travel) advice...etc. * back office tasks: answering all kinds of questions via telephone and e-mail + aid groups with planning and booking à la carte travel itineraries.

Over a 9 month period I was temporarily responsible for the tourist office print communication, with focus on the city's tourist guide book and tourist map 2014.

To know more about the city I work in and help me in my job at Visit Bruges I became a certified town guide in 2016, after 3 years in evening school. SHS are students who, in a recognizable uniform, walk through the streets of the small tourist town Sluis during weekends and school holidays, roughly from Easter till November. They are there to provide information to tourists, offer parking assistance, help in case of emergencies, assist during events and in general keep an eye on things and promote tourism. SHS works closely with the local tourist office, shopkeepers and municipal government. SHS was my first job in tourism and it strengthened my wish to pursue a professional career in the tourism industry.

From March to June 2009 I did my final year internship on the Incoming department of Visit Bruges. At that time, the Incoming department had 2 job openings. My mentor at Visit Bruges advised me to apply. Several weeks into my internship I became convinced that this job and company suited me, applied and was hired just before the end of my training course.

Event Mosaic is specialised in providing professional event services in Flanders. During my 3,5 weeks of internship I got to know the company by doing some events (like the cook-a-like, murder-and-mystery tour and clip walks).
