I’m a recent graduate student of ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications where I studied sports journalism. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, a minor in Journalism and a minor in Marketing at California State University, Sacramento. I’ve always wanted to have a career in a field where I genuinely enjoyed going to work every day and sports journalism allows me to combine two of my greatest passions, sports and telling important stories that have purpose. I have good communication skills and I’m able to manage my time well, which is vital in the journalism world where deadlines are crucial. I love that sports brings people together and creates a community which can be influential to someone’s life. The skills I have obtained in graduate school include becoming proficient using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, DSLR cameras, writing sports stories on deadline, interviewing and AP Style. During my internship with ESPN as a production assistant with SportsCenter and NBA Today, I’ve learned the editing software, qCut. I am proficient in cutting highlights, VOs and SOTs. I’m excited to increase my knowledge and bring my skills into the newsroom.
