About Sabrina Mashburn

I am a conservation biologist and educator specializing in urban and marine wildlife conservation and management, public outreach, and communication. With Master's degrees in both Marine Biodiversity & Conservation and Secondary Science Education, I strive to find solutions to conservation problems that will benefit both humans and wildlife.     SoCal Sea Turtles was founded by Sabrina Mashburn in 2016. In April of 2021, SCST incorporated, and Sabrina became the company's President. Once SCST received 501(c)(3) status in February of 2022 (back-dated to April, 2021), Sabrina became the Executive Director, in charge of all day-to-day operations, including in-person and online outreach and education planning, delivery, and curriculum development, as well as web design, social media coordination and content creation, merchandise design, and fundraising/development. Along with Sabrina's day-to-day running of SCST, she is supported by a Federal Advisory Board consisting of advisors from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Marine Turtle Research and Protected Species Divisions, as well as the US Navy. SoCal Sea Turtles, Inc. also has an active and diverse Board of Directors comprised of individuals from both the non-profit sector, as well as private industry. SoCal Sea Turtles, Inc. hopes to expand our team in the coming years in order to provide sea turtle outreach and education to anglers, boaters, and the general public throughout the US West Coast region.
