It required a constant awareness of sales figures and stock movement, which meant I developed strong links with the merchandising, buying and accounts teams.I built relationships with store managers and supervisors, and provided them with support both remotely and on the shop floor. Joy seeks to provide lovely, local, boutique style stores, rather than falling into the monotony of those typically found on the high street. I therefore lay emphasis upon building local ties and getting involved with communities, the stores took some responsibility in this, but I led their endeavours. I actively helped run one-off promotions and events to serve drinks, hand out flyers and merchandise, encourage footfall and engage with customers, and also to create relationships with local businesses for longstanding partnerships. No two days were the same, from a Valentine's day promotion that saw heart shaped love notes from customers filling the store windows (I ensured a strong execution and high standard with constant store communications), to persuading people in the street to strip down to their underwear on a chilly day in Brighton (https://www.joythestore.com/blog/?p=3581), my role at joy was varied and thoroughly JOYful.
