About Sabrina Simon
I am a passionate and driven first-generation undergraduate student majoring in Psychology with an emphasis in Neuroscience and a minor in Leadership Development. My academic and personal journey is fueled by a deep commitment to understanding and addressing mental health challenges, particularly within underrepresented and immigrant communities. My aspiration to become a clinical psychologist stems from my unwavering passion for advocating for mental health. Through my research experience, I have delved into how religious backgrounds influence mental health stigmas among middle-aged Eritrean adults, uncovering the unique challenges and cultural nuances that contribute to these stigmas. This work has deepened my understanding of the barriers faced by immigrant communities and strengthened my resolve to foster awareness and change.Beyond academics, my active involvement in cultural and non-cultural organizations, collaborative research projects, and my work with Open Heart Leaders has profoundly shaped my perspective and reinforced my purpose. These experiences have allowed me to connect with diverse groups, promote mental health awareness, and advocate for equitable access to resources. As a strong believer that mental health is vital and should never be stigmatized, I am devoted to amplifying the voices of minority communities and creating pathways for healing and understanding. My long-term goal is to pursue a PsyD post-graduation, equipping myself with the expertise and tools needed to contribute meaningfully to dismantling mental health stigmas and improving care for underserved populations.I am excited about the journey ahead and remain committed to using my education, experiences, and passion to make a lasting impact on the mental health field. If you share similar interests or would like to connect, I would love to hear from you!
