Heading up the private office for the Policy Chairman of the City of London Corporation. I manage the diary team and Assistant Private Secretary, oversee the briefings process, provide strategic advice to the Policy Chairman about upcoming engagements, and work with colleagues across the organisation to deliver priorities.

I developed and managed the Lord Mayor’s programme of activity both within the UK and internationally. I had specific responsibility for the international programmes in Africa and the Gulf. With Policy and Media colleagues from across the organisation and in collaboration with colleagues from the FCDO and DIT, I led on multiple successful visits by three Lord Mayors to countries across the EMEA region. I worked with the FCDO team and colleagues from the Corporation’s Parliamentary team to develop a programme of activity at the Mansion House for visiting Presidents and their delegations on a number of occasions.As part of the Mansion House team, I worked as a Private Secretary to the Lord Mayor. Putting together programmes of engagement each week, providing strategic advice, briefings, and writing speeches.

I undertook a secondment as a senior speechwriter for the Lord Mayor. This was a fun opportunity to unleash my inner storyteller. I wrote speeches for a wide range of activity which included international visits, ceremonial events, business focussed events and academic lectures. The role also included comms work such as writing articles, approving content, and social media engagement.

I provided clerking and governance support to the meetings of the London Assembly, namely the Mayor’s Question Time and ensured the provision of high quality support to all other London Assembly meetings through managing a team of eight Committee Managers, Officers and Assistants. Duties of this role were: to lead the team of Committee Services Staff, ensure smooth and efficient decision-making processes for all London Assembly meetings, and provide advice to Members on standing orders, protocols and legal statutes.

Starting as a Committee Services Officer and later being promoted to Senior Committee Services Officer with line management responsibilities, I clerked various committees responsible for wide ranging areas - from the Museum of London, to Port Health and Environmental Services, HR related matters, audit and risk, livery focussed work, and finally the Court of Common Council which was a regular meeting with all 125 members and the Chief Officers.I provided governance advice, took minutes, wrote reports, developed agendas, and oversaw the end to end process for committee meetings.
