As an assistant professor, there are three pillars that I focused on: teaching, service, and research. I taught several courses both for undergraduate and graduate level. For undergraduate courses, my courses varied from electives to core higher-level courses. I also taught a course in Human-Computer Interaction in the college of IT. For graduate level courses, I taught two MBA classes; one elective and one core. The evaluations I receive are usually excellent in both graduate and undergraduate courses. The courses were all related to the use of information systems in business and business intelligence. As for service, I was part of the several committees in the university and beyond. At the university, I was part of the dean search committee to find the new dean. As the assistant dean for professional development, I was responsible for developing the process and procedures for the college. The college had an average of 160 students go through internship each semester and were spread throughout the Emirates. We provided placement, continuous supervision, evaluation during and at the end of the internship, and post-graduation support. We created a systematic way of evaluating the internship entity, the academic supervisors, the career unit, and the internship experience. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive from students. The college presented the internship process to The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an accreditation agency, as a best practice. The UAEU also decreed the creation of an assistant dean for professional development position to mirror what is happening at the college.
