1) Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in drilling oil and gas wells in area consisting of one or more wellsites: Directs workers to erect, dismantle, and move drilling rigs, and drilling crews in setting up and operating power units, draw works and other drilling equipment.2) Plans delivery of drilling tools, fuel, water, and other supplies for use at drill site.3) Orders type of drilling bits to be used, according to type of strata encountered.4) Directs workers in mixing drilling mud and circulating mud in borehole, and in use of special drilling mud to prevent blowouts from gas pressure.5) Orders installation of control head to control flow when well begins to produce gas or oil.6) May supervise operations at producing wells to maintain and regulate flow of gas or oil.7) Performs other duties as described under Supervisor Master Title.8) May supervise Prospecting Drillers drilling shallow boreholes for use in seismic prospecting or to obtain core samples and be designated Tool Pusher, Shallow-Exploratory Drilling.

(a) Assist and relieve the Driller as necessary in supervising all work carried out on the drilling unit, ensuring that such work is carried out efficiently and in compliance with authorised operating procedures and Company Safety Policy.(b) Assist in preparing all tools and equipment required for well operations. Maintain accurate records of tubulars run in the hole including pipe tally, full BHA/completion components and critical fishing dimensions e.g. ID/OD and connections.(c) Carry out daily checks as required (e.g. Koomey Unit and BOP status checks).(d) Assist with maintenance, repair or replacement tasks in accordance with Company's Planned Preventative Maintenance System.(e) Ensure accurate and complete handovers and assist in maintaining daily drilling records.(f) Direct the personnel under their authority in the practical steps to ensure that all working places are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition and all working practices employed are safe.(g) Along with Derrickman operate, monitor, repair and maintain mud pumps and the entire drilling fluid circulation system, including pumps, fluid lines, shale shakers and mud tanks.(h) Supervise the monitoring of drilling fluids and mud testing.(i) Understand and maintain B.O.P. system, check reservoir fluid and accumulator bottle pressure.(j) Evaluate all work to be carried out to the requirements of the Permit-to-Work system, initiate Permits-to-Work as necessary and ensure that all safety precautions are taken and work is only carried out as stated in the Permit-to-Work.(k) Responsible for the supervision of personnel engaged in activities in their area of responsibility or for which they have been allocated responsibility by their supervisor.(l) Monitor, supervise and coach any Service company or Vendor company representatives that may be involved in the operations on the rig.(m) Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.

(a) Ensure the smooth running of the mud pumps and all the mud processing equipment and to perform routine maintenance on the same.(b) Carry out routine mud sampling and simple weight and viscosity checks and add chemicals as advised by the mud engineer.(c) Maintain all mud pumping and processing area in a clean and tidy condition.(d) Record the use of any mud pump parts, shale shaker and mud cleaner screens or mud cleaner cones as required. Keep mud pump records up to date.(e) Before tripping to line-up the mud system and trip tank, to pull out and also to shut down unnecessary equipment.(f) Ensure that in the derrick:* There are no loose tools or debris lying around.* No loose ropes hanging from the board.* All tubulars are securely fastened.* Report faulty equipment and damage to the derrick structure.(g) Working at monkey board level, running or pulling tubulars in close communication with the Driller and the floor crews.(h) Monitor active pit levels to assist in well control, reporting any anomalies to the Driller immediately.(i) Assist in installation and movement of B.O.P. equipment.(j) Carry out repairs to the fluid end of the mud pumps and valves in the LP mud system.(k) In liaison with the Mud Engineer:* plan the use of the mud pits for taking on fluids and the back load of fluids.o prepare the mud pits for special mixes e.g. cement spacers. Supervise roustabouts when engaged in pit cleaning or pit entry.o assist in maintaining mud properties as per drilling programme.(l) Maintain the pump and pit room logbooks accurately and up to date for use as basis for handing over to the relief.
