CPS Litigation Attorney. My primary duties involved attending court hearings, mediation, and trials (both jury and bench trials), and advising CPS personnel regarding all family law matters, including termination of parental rights, compliance with federal and state laws, conservatorship, and child support. Cases often involved issues relating to immigration, the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children, Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act, the Indian Child Welfare Act, and adoptions.

In this position, I had many responsibilities; Counsel to the Juvenile Board and the Bail Bond Board, Back-up counsel to the Commissioners Court, Back-up attorney for CPS, and assigned counsel for Juvenile Services, Emergency Management, Fire Marshal, County Clerk, District Clerk, Community Supervision, Elections Office, Purchasing Department, Treasurer, and Tax Assessor. I review contracts and am handling bond forfeitures and assisting with asset forfeiture cases.

In February, I was promoted to Attorney II in the Civil Litigation/Employment Law section. Primary duties include; advising city departments, reviewing discipline files, employment arbitration, training, general litigation duties, and drafting and reviewing ordinances, regulations, and procedures. I am the backup attorney for advising Boards and Commissions.

Prosecute Class C Misdemeanors and City Ordinance Violations; Draft complaints, work with Code Enforcement Officers on bringing charges, developing procedures and ordinances, etc. Argue Motions and represent the city in various hearings as well as bench and jury trials.
