As a plant breeder, it's my passion to develop varieties that not only meet the needs of farmers and consumers but also make a difference in the communities I work with.My journey in plant breeding began when I was assigned to develop an open field type gynoecious cucumber variety suitable for Bangladesh. After nine years of hard work and dedication, I successfully maintained the gynoecious trait and developed the first cucumber variety, becoming the first cucumber breeder in the country to do so. This achievement marked a milestone in plant breeding in Bangladesh.But my accomplishments don't stop there. I have also breed varieties of ridge gourd, papaya, eggplant, pumpkin, bitter gourd, and onion. The excitement I feel when releasing these varieties into the market is unparalleled. It's a testament to my commitment to innovation and enhancing crop diversity.But my impact doesn't stop at breeding alone. I am also proud to serve as a resource person for different projects. One such project is GEOBIS, an integrated initiative between The Netherlands Space Agency and Lal Teer Seed Ltd., where I assisted in preparing crop modeling for smallholder farmers in Bangladesh. This work has helped improve agricultural practices and support sustainable food production.And speaking of Lal Teer Seed Ltd., it is here that I have found a company dedicated to fostering leadership and excellence in seed research. The company, founded in 1995 as East West Seed BG Ltd, has paved the way for vegetable research in Bangladesh.
