I love infrastructure. It started from a young age, eagerly reading the newspapers after budget nights to see the latest splurge on infrastructure projects and tracing the ‘proposed freeways’ and old train lines in the “Melways” (Melbourne’s street directory).Even now, I’m excited by all sorts of infrastructure around me, such as watching ‘Skyrail’ go up in the south-east of Melbourne, being amazed by the use of TBMs and tunnelling techniques on major projects and marvelling at motorway interchanges. Lately, I have become fascinated by the convergence of physical and digital infrastructure, technology, vehicles, data and energy. My passion has unsurprisingly found its way into my professional life. I’m an infrastructure legal expert with broad experience. I have worked across development, acquisition and privatisation processes on both the private sector and government side. I am experienced in concession arrangements across a number of infrastructure classes. I have worked on a range of treasury transactions (Bank, USPP, AMTN, EMTN, 144A, ECM, corporate, project finance and intra-group transactions) and tax structures. I have worked on a number of asset optimisation initiatives, including operational restructures and improvements, technology deployments and maintenance initiatives. I also thrived on an internal secondment into an innovation squad for 9 months, exploring opportunities at the nexus of infrastructure, technology and vehicles.
