In the context of unprecedent change, a global pandemic, and a constantly adapting and dynamic health care landscape, effective nurse leadership demands transformational, authentic, and humble leadership. I aspire to drive and manage change, elicit trust, and engage staff of all disciplines and roles. I seek to build authentic and supportive relationships based on mutual respect, and to maintain humility, including an open mind toward new ideas or information and a value and appreciation for the work of others. I have an intrinsic strength of inclusion, particularly toward those who are left out or viewed as outsiders, and I work diligently to bring individuals together around a common goal. I am naturally restorative in that I seek to identify problems or needed change with a clear vision of the future, and I work to articulate that vision as well as call others to a higher sense of purpose. I have an innate empathy which manifests in all areas of my work as a genuine concern for the well-being of others, a value of their contributions, and an ability to forget myself in leading teams to a shared objective. While I maintain confidence in myself, my leadership skills, and my ability to lead large and complex teams, I recognize the magnitude of others’ work in comparison to my contributions. I am proud of my professional leadership journey this far, and I have optimism and enthusiasm for the future.
