About Sally Skidmore

After obtaining an MA in counseling and further doctoral studies, I created a series of career and assertiveness training programs with a professional colleague. I expanded access to employees regarding career learning and coaching within New York City banks, businesses and with the venues of high level career consulting companies.I was a consultant with J.P. Morgan Chase for almost 20 years as a senior level career counselor, including career assessment and guidance and a seminar creator and leader. President of the Connecticut area career counseling professional organization for at two different times. Formerly had a private practice initially in New York City and later in Connecticut. Since 2010, retired.

I had my own radio program (WGBH CT),topics were on careers, changes in life focus, starting a new business, authors of career books, leaders in the career counseling field.

The school had a strong liberal arts program which helped most students continue easily on to 4 year colleges in New England, Mid-USA, the South, and even further West in the USA. I reviewed applications for admission, and organized the student campus guides for visiting students and parents.

Most wanted to go beyond the 2 year degree and 80-90% did transfer to colleges in New England, the Mid-states,South, etc. In my daily schedule I interviewed up to 8 young women, almost an hour with each, answered parents questions, scheduled campus tours, was on the admissions committee making acceptance decisions. I also organized the Campus Guides, and coached them as hosts for thecollege during the families tours around the campus. Was selected to be Dean of Students butdeclined for move to another area.
