About Sally Tabbner

I’m so fortunate to have found where I’m meant to be! Reshaping both the local and national conversation around dementia with an incredible team of people. Currently in West Sussex but soon to be across the Country!A Dementia diagnosis is life altering for individuals and families – something I’ve personally experienced in my family with 3 grandparents with various types. I know how overwhelming and difficult to navigate that can be even with my background in Social Care & Public Health. Having worked in various and some senior roles in local government for 24 years and commissioning services to keep older people independent at home, I knew that there was still a gap when it came to dementia services. Suddenly someone would get a diagnosis and the doors to activities and services were shut......I feel incredibly fortunate to now be in a position to change that and honour each of my grandparents memory. I completed my MBA and then up popped the role at the Charity. I made what was considered a "brave" decision and left Local Government after 24 years long service BUT I knew it was right. I project managed the call centre into Sage House, recruited a fab team (39 at the time of writing!) and introduced enough policies and procedures to shake a stick at.....then we opened. I knew even back then that I will never do something as completely satisfying and important again. Sage House literally helps change people’s lives… we have an incredible team of Wayfinders who support the whole family through their individual journey providing guidance, advice, emotional support and so much more. We also host Activities daily that help stimulate and connect people (the smiles speak for themselves!), to our many Support Groups and Personal Care services (we have bathing, hair and therapy rooms too!), but not forgetting our Day Breaks providing respite for Carers with 1:3 care by another amazing team.I’m just the CEO, but every single day I’m humbled by the impact of the services we provide. The importance of having a community hub/destination with a brilliant café at the heart of it, and the inspiring team that supports everyone that touches our service is evident daily. Next step is to make this a national offer through our blueprint.Dementia Support: we're changing the narrative… so join us and start a hub in your community 😊. If I can do it anyone can!
