I am a member of the Advanced Threat Research (ATR) team in the office of the CTO. Primary responsibilities include researching new security vulnerabilities on both hardware and software targets followed by responsible vendor disclosure.

As a software quality engineer, I work on Calibre’s Design For Manufacturing software in the Design to Silicon business unit. I am apart of a team responsible for testing, debugging and qualifying software releases and updates. My quality assurance responsibilities span different software tools including computation engines, application software, APIs, and utilities. I am also responsible for the design, development, and execution of application specific functional and regression tests used to measure the quality, robustness, performance, and usefulness of these products in our customer's semiconductor manufacturing flows. I often collaborate with senior software engineers, quality assurance specialists, marketing, and customer support professionals to help deliver timely product releases that provide value to our customers. Included in my responsibilities I must provide stakeholders with appropriate regression reports in a timely manner as well as develop necessary artifacts, scripts, or tools that improve the overall job effectiveness and efficiency.

As a security analyst at Oregon State University I respond to active security concerns, monitor university owned systems for malware, and perform vulnerability assessments on the campus wide network. Through automation of the phishing and spam email reporting I was able to use python to implement a machine learning logic that could discern whether a message was legitimate or not.

I was fortunate to receive an internship through MECOP at Precision Castpart Corp. This was my second time being immersed into a professional atmosphere in the field that I am studying and I enjoyed it equally as the first. Precision Castparts Corp. has a lot of advanced technology and very intricate security software. It was beneficial for me to learn the basics of how a large corporation like Precision Castpart Corp. handles security. I now feel more well rounded and have at least some experience relating to my security focus.During my internship at Precision Castparts Corp, I was exposed to many different departments. All of the technology is managed by the MIS (Management Information System) department. For a large portion of my internship, I was stationed at the helpdesk within the MIS department. I liked the atmosphere of the helpdesk and the opportunity to get hands on experience with technology all around the plant. I would help individual users with minor problems like malware to large issues that were halting production like robotic arms.

While interning at Mentor Graphics I worked on the Calibre team testing and debugging the Calibre product. Calibre is an integrated circuit physical verification tool that verifies layouts in pre-production stages. During my internship I was responsible for planning and creating test cases that verify both Calibre’s compiler and Calibre’s verification output. I also created an internal tool named “Tinstall” designed to be used by all of Mentor’s QA Engineers that organizes and restricts installation of unmaintained scripts and employee created tools.
