Alongside basic training, studies undertaken include: communication and behavioural science, international affairs, defence capabilities and history of war. Qualifications include PGCert in Leadership and Strategic Studies and ILM Level 5 in Leadership and Management.

Volunteered on a sanitation project in a remote village in rural Tanzania, with a focus on construction, education and community engagement. Also participated in a trek phase which, in part, allowed for leadership development.
