My role at EMR is a quality checker. Cargo comes in by road. I must check every load for prohibited items such as batteries and gas bottles. In my role I must determine how much dirt and contaminants (rubber, plastic etc) there is within the load. It’s also important to keep the workspace clean and safe for myself and those around me.

Working in Lidl warehouse, driving a OP truck around the warehouse picking items ordered by stores. Stacking them on pallets, as I was working with food it was important to keep the workspace is clean Nx hygienic. Also very important to keep the area safe to work in.

Vũng Tàu, Vietnam

Whilst I was in Vietnam I was teaching English arranged by the hostel. When I wasn’t teaching I’d be helping out at the hostel, tidying, cooking etc.Volunteering in a school teaching conversation/ basic English to children, in addition to teaching basic English to children I held a session on a Thursday with adults and young adults.

Thailand

Volunteering for a HIV and AIDS program in northern Thailand, Chang Khong (A small Provence). This project is trying to remove the negative stigma around having HIV, and teaching young people about safe sex.

Working for 725 a food packing agency, shift work. (primarily in a rice factory on one of the big machines, that I learnt a fair bit about) very important as it was good based to keep a clean environment.

Bangladesh

Three month placement in rural Bangladesh working with young people to enhance their employability skills and to tackle social and health issues in local communities.

Millbrook Garden Centre, retail, serving general public, multiple roles in the centre (stock room, cashier, shop floor) in this time I learned a lot about the stock we were selling, in addition to this how to up sale to customers and price up stock. Whist in the stockroom I learnt how to place orders, and check in the items onto the system
