My experience as a Football Referee has exposed me to a variety of specific circumstances in which I have had to execute a correct decision in a split second time period which will likely change the course of the game. The pressure to back yourself confidently with a decision is incomparable to most jobs, such as is the jeopardy which comes with the decision and the reaction of the players, coaches and supporters. As a Referee managing the game is as crucial as making the correct calls. I am experienced at communicating effectively with teenagers and adults to explain decisions and sanctions, and I am adaptable to each circumstance as no game is the same. Therefore, I build a positive rapport with the captains or individual players through a game so they respect decisions. A captains reaction to a referee invites the same positive or negative reaction from is teammates so gaining that respect is important. Finally, empathy of the game is so vital. In my experiences I have refereed players from a wide variety of ages and backgrounds and with that comes different skill levels and attitudes to football. Understanding who you're refereeing is integral and effects how you apply the laws of the game.
