After leaving school I first started studying and eventually attained my bachelor degree in social science majoring in public relations. In my final year of study I wanted to make my own money and got a job at the local JBS Swift Abattoir in Dinmore.Having completed my degree at the end of 2008 I decided I didn’t want to leave my job at the abattoir so I made the decision to stay on there. All up I worked there for 7 and a half years. Throughout my time there I watched as all the workers around me were complaining of pains and injuries that were making their jobs very difficult, including but not limited to Carpel tunnel syndrome, RSI and joint pains, particularly in the shoulders. I listened to many stories about surgeries people have tried and how in a lot of cases, they just weren’t the same as they were before.In time I developed my own injuries and desired to know what was causing them and how I can help it without resorting to surgery. I commenced study of my Certificate IV in Massage therapy with AIF in 2014 whilst continuing to work full time at the abattoir. Realizing that my natural disposition to physical work, my exceptional interpersonal skills in a one on one environment, and interest in muscle behavior were great assets in Massage Therapy, I took to it very well and upon completion, went straight into studying my diploma in Remedial massage because that started to cover the information I really wanted to know.At the end of 2015 I made the decision not to return to the abattoir and focus on my studies and in April 2016 I finished my Diploma and commenced working at No More Knots where I have been ever since and still continue to work. I have since completed my Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy to further my knowledge in functional movement and postural effects on muscle movement and altered motion patterns which is my particular area of interest.I want to help others to understand why their body is reacting the way it is to the lives they have chosen and help them to make changes that will allow them less discomfort in there lives. I really enjoy following pain referral patterns and love helping clients to understand their bodies a bit more and that the pain they’re feeling isn’t necessarily coming from where they think.After 4 years, I’m looking for a change of scenery. Ideally I would love to work in a smaller and quieter clinic environment where I can devote more time to helping my clients. A multi-modality environment would be ideal as I love learning other perspectives and points of view to help round out my own knowledge.
