I manage a team of 8 scientific staff and am Team Leader of the Human and Environmental Safety team at the Veterinary Medicines Directorate, the UK regulator of veterinary medicines. I assess applications from pharma companies for Marketing Authorisations for veterinary medicinal products (pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals). I assess the data concerning pharmacology, toxicology, user risk assessment, and consumer safety assessments (residues in food produced from treated animals) and write assessment reports in line with national and international requirements. I am a member of the British Toxicological Society (BTS). I was, until Brexit, the UK member of the SWP(v), a working party of the CVMP at the European Medicines Agency. I have been an expert assessor for JECFA (The Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives) since 2017. I have been a lead delegate for the UK at CODEX meetings (CCRVDF). The UK is now an independent member of VICH; members of my team are on their expert working groups looking at metabolism and residue kinetics (MRK) and Safety (toxicology).
