About me:Hi, I'm Sam, a computer science student at the University of Calgary. I spend most of my spare time learning new languages, techniques and tools to help me make my ideas come to life. I put a lot of work into projects that I am passionate about. Whether it be full-stack development, game development, robotics programming or something else I have the drive to succeed and make something I can be proud of.Some of my past experiences and projects:Recently I participated in the BCI game jam 2022, where I built a game in 2 days using C# and the Unity game engine. The goal of the game jam was to make games for Brain Control interface devices, specifically for kids with certain disabilities that use these devices to play games. This experience allowed me to practice time management, and teamwork as I was working with a partner to finish the game. In the end, the game we made got first place in one of the categories which I was very proud of.In the summer of 2021 and 2022, I interned at Pixeltree doing web development. While working there I worked on many different projects doing front-end development with Javascript, React, and Tailwind CSS. I learned a lot about debugging, test-driven development, and working/communicating in a software development team in a fast-paced environment. I also worked on a few projects with Ruby on Rails which helped me to learn the languageI competed in the Skills Alberta Web Design and Development competition in 2020, 2021, and 2022. I placed in the top 3 for all three years which I was really happy about. From the competitions, I learned a lot about frontend development with Javascript and Vue, as well as backend development with Node.js to work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB NoSQL databases. I also got experience with working efficiently and managing deadlines.
