For thirty years Sam was privileged to serve the office of pastor in Florida, Alabama, and Ohio and has preached the Gospel since his call in 1980. Through the years he traveled abroad ministering in Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. Sam also served the Mission Field through First Bible Midsouth helping reach Unreached People Groups with various Bible translation and publishing projects. While studying Pastoral Theology at Baptist University of America in Atlanta, Georgia, Sam met Lisa, and they became college sweethearts. After being married they settled in St. Petersburg, Florida and served a ministry internship. Upon completion Sam was ordained by Liberty Baptist Church in 1992. The passion of his life is to see souls saved, lives transformed, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ advanced. Just prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, Sam entered into a new season of ministry. Before 2020 he had never heard the words “pastor wellness” in a sentence, yet as a seasoned pastor Sam knew the rigor and demands of ministry can result in finding oneself on the other side of wellness: fear, anxiety, depression, isolation, and burnout were all a part of his experience.During the COVID lockdown the Lord directed his path to intersect with a younger pastor in need of a safe place, a confidante, a friend, and an intercessor. For the next three years their relationship grew deeper and stronger as Sam walked with him through the dry valley of burnout into the green pastures of abundance.“Watching him heal and grow was far more rewarding than I could ever have imagined,” Sam recently exclaimed. Today this shepherd is living and ministering from a healthy and balanced state. The church he serves is experiencing a revived spirit and growing healthy, committed disciples of Christ. In the Fall of 2023 Sam was introduced to Standing Stone Ministry and the Lord has directed him to fulfill his call by being a shepherd to shepherds. In his personal time, Sam enjoys golfing, camping, kayaking, and woodworking. He is also an avid DIYer around the house. The Lord blessed Sam and Lisa’s union with four children, eleven grandchildren, five grand-dogs, one grand-cat, and one grand-gecko not to mention their fur baby, Snickers, a fourteen pound Shih-tzu as well as Sawdust, a rescued cat he and Lisa adopted in the Spring of 2024.
