This is a job I very much enjoyed. It gave me an opportunity to learn a lot more about an area I am interested in and I got the chance to let my hobbies flow into my work life. Working for Blacks, I would have a lot of customer interaction trying to get people the best equipment for their endeavours wherever they may be. I could offer my experience in completing the Duke of Edinburgh's award in the form of advice towards young people aiming to achieve these awards themselves and towards parents trying to get all the equipment within a reasonable budget. Working here was very rewarding.

My role working for Home Bargains was as a Sales Assistant. The job involved working stock received in deliveries and stocking the shelves. My role also involved handling transactions on the cash registers.. My role was customer facing, which involves a lot of answering questions and assisting customers with their needs. Handling transactions of both cash and card payments was another large part of the job.

My role was as a retail assistant for Boyes, which required me to undertake stock checks, restock items, identify any irregularities with stock and ensure the shop front was ready for retail hours. Within the shop opening hours, I also undertook the role of sales interface, with a direct interface with the public with the public and the responsibility of handling cash and card transactions. My continued involvement with customers allowed me to develop my communication abilities both face to face and otherwise. This role was both rewarding in that I could directly advise and help members of the public with their purchases, but also challenging in that you never knew what the customer was likely to say or how they would react to responses. This led me to hone my skills with communicating with various customers, from the polite through to the aggressive, so as to encourage or diffuse sometimes difficult situations.
