In this role I support young people aged 16-25 who are care leavers and refugees. I support them in developing their life skills to go on to life fulfilling lives after receiving support. Working with Social Workers and PA’s I help them to apply for housing, register with local services, and supporting them with educational and training matters.

In March 2023 I was elected to the post graduate position of Keele Students Union’s Education Officer. I formally took this role up in JulyIn the role I was responsible for being students voice in university meetings. Here I represented the students that elected me by putting forward students views and concerns, working with the university to my students academic lives the best they can be. I was also a trustee due to my position, here I scrutinise and work constructively with the Students Union management, to ensure the organisation is run effectively and is representative of the student body.

In summer 2022 I was elected to be West Midlands Young Labour Representative for the national Young Labour committee. During this time I have successfully set up a working committee ensuring the region has become more active in campaigning and creating safe spaces for people to share their thoughts and ways to help each other. I was elected with 191 with 109 going to other candidates. The campaign was mostly ran online with social media playing a very large part in it, this allowed to me to improve my social media skills.

From the age of 16 to 20 I worked for Greggs where I gained experience of a working environment and have learnt a great deal some of which includes improving my people skills, being able to think quickly on my feet, gaining the ability to quickly and calmly defuse a situation (this has been with colleagues and customers) and I have been able to take on leadership roles by teaching new staff members and often being the most senior staff member on the floor.
