While freelancing I have tried to develop a diverse portfolio of work. To this end I work for Bloomsbury Publishing as an author and am currently putting the finishing touches on my third book. I also work as boat tester for Sailing Today magazine, generally putting together two yacht tests each month. In addition, I work as a digital sub-editor for the sport section of the Sunday Times, generally working on putting together the App and iPad versions of the paper.

I worked full time as the Deputy Editor for this popular sailing magazine for two years. This was a position of huge responsibility, as I had to supply over 50% of the magazine’s monthly content, including boat tests, news, charter guides and gear reviews. In addition to this, I played a big part in determining the ‘look and feel’ of the magazine and was integral to the production and sub editing of the magazine.

Part of the PR team for the governing body of recreational boating in the UK. I was responsible for writing extensive articles for the international yachting press representing the views of the RYA. I also produced four monthly e-newsletters, which were sent out to all RYA members and played a pivotal role in editing website content for the RYA’s high profile Skandia Team GBR website for the 2008 Olympic games.

Working on this vibrant local weekly based in Cornwall’s surfing capital, I was in charge of supplying interesting content which ranged from the sensitive work of covering murders to unveiling political scandals.
