I currently work as a manager and special inspector for TTL, a civil engineering consulting firm. I am the department manager at my local office, and my managerial duties include preparing proposal documents and estimating costs for future projects, reviewing invoices prior to issuance, and managing company assets. I also schedule technicians for fieldwork at various project sites, write and review daily reports, attend project meetings, and function as the primary point of contact for our clients and contractors. Beyond my managerial duties, I am also the senior inspector for our branch. I am trained and certified to perform inspections in the fields of reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural masonry, spray applied and thin-film intumescent fire proofing, floor flatness/floor levelness testing, concrete slab relative humidity and alkalinity testing, geotechnical testing and observation, and cold formed steel framing. I work with little direct interaction from my supervisors, being expected to manage my personnel, assets, and projects appropriately and as I see best. Communication skills are key to effectively and efficiently performing my duties, so I take pride in my ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to those within TTL and with outside parties to maintain the quality of work that is expected of me.
