On Mt. Fuji, I lead group tours up and down the mountain through inclement weather and a diverse array of other challenges. Mountain guiding has prepared me well in interacting, directing and motivating large groups of diverse people, training me to be an effective public speaker and communicator. While guiding on Fuji I also gave interpretive tours of the National Park’s flora and fauna.

At the Asian University for Women, a liberal-arts college for academically-excellent young women across Asia, I worked primarily as a writing tutor in the University’s writing centre, assisting second-language English learners with their theses, grammar, and sentence and paragraph structure. While working for the Kaibab National Forest Service I worked predominantly with the Heritage Department, conducting archaeological surveys of the Forest, restoring petroglyphs in Keyhole Sink, and maintaining the Forest Service's archaeological database. I also worked on collaborative projects with the Forestry and Wildlife Biology departments, where I worked in species relocation and the establishment of protected wilderness areas in Sycamore Canyon.
