My father was a civil engineer for the Texas Water Board and in my youth I would travel with him to Colorado and New Mexico as he performed his duties for the Rio Grande River Interstate Compact Commission.After college I worked in oil & gas exploration as a site scout across the western U.S.I had many exciting adventures visiting remote areas from a helicopter and then returned to Texas to survey mineral leases and stake wells in the Austin Chalk. One of my hobbies during this time was river rafting with trips thru the Grand Canyon and the Salmon, Snake, Rio Grande and Pecos Rivers.I then ventured to St. Croix and the U.S. Virgin Islands assisting with the development of the Carambola and Diamond Katura golf resorts. After Hurricane Hugo devastated the area I was assigned to assist with the reconstruction of the airport and then aerial mapping of the island.Once again returning to Texas and the Dallas area I joined the Stewart Title group and managed their land surveying company for several years until starting my private practice. The next 14 years were a mix of public and private development work until 9/11 brought on a decline in the real estate market. I closed the practice and accepted a position with TxDOT which was then known as the Texas Highway Department.After completing assignments in Sherman, McKinney and Austin for TxDOT, I have returned to a limited private practice.In July of 2017 the wife and I relocated to Lampasas to be more centrally located in our past time of visiting state parks and pursuit of Texas history. And now in July of 2022 we have relocated once again to Carlsbad NM to a active adult Christian retirement community just up the road from two national parks.
