I have worked in many facets of adventure tourism and hospitality including kayaking (white/flat water & ocean), hiking, camping, tour leading, hosting, and bar tending. I worked these positions domestically and over seas in Europe, China, and especially Africa. In addition to my experience travel and tourism I have some expirience teaching English as a second language during my traveling over seas. I have also worked in catering and owned my own small good humor truck business here in the states. My goal is to continue to increase my knowledge about the world and myself while expanding my skill sets as a guide (this means the hard skills associated with adventure recreation, and the soft skills that are applicable as a guide, a host, and a person)

  I have many responsibilities at the Discover Outdoor Center. I take participants on guided kayaking and hiking trips. I work and occasionally run the indoor climbing wall and office. when things are slow I use the time to check, repair, and restock equipment or to work on developing protocols for new programs like rentals or pre-trip planning. I love the time I get to spend outside on the trips, but I also value the knowledge I gain in the back of the house and on the numerous voluntary leadership training initiatives I am able to attend through my position.
