I currently serve in the British Armed Forces. I have been with the British Army for seven years and travelled and worked in many different countries, working away from home for months at a time.In 2017 I successfully passed an arduous cadre in order to promote to Lance Corporal. Following this, I have been responsible for a team of 12 soldiers, including administering, training and developing them.Four years ago, I qualified as a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) working as a PTI for the last three years, two years of which I was selected to work at the Harrogate Army Development College. My role was to teach, train and develop, new recruits/students into respectable soldiers. Whilst based at Harrogate Army Development College, I worked as a civilian during weekday evenings, as a PTI, teaching people to box and improve their fitness. I tailored programmes specifically to individuals and gained valuable experience and excellent results.I have also undergone first aid training whilst serving in the British Army, certifying me as an Army Team Medic.The Battalion where I am currently based, in Edinburgh, is a mechanised battalion, this has enabled me to gain basic mechanised knowledge of working on certain vehicles as well as some electrical work inside the vehicles. The range of vehicles I have worked on include Land Rover, Foxhound and Mastiffs.Recently, I have been recommended for the Award of Colonel-in-Chief’s Commendation. The reason for this was my exceptional work whilst deployed on exercise in September last year. Due to COVID-19 affecting numbers, I was required to step up as lead Section Commander throughout and led the platoon training, organising and executing each day’s training. This highlighted my organisational, planning and team skills.I am considering a role outside of the British Army where I will be able to expand my knowledge gained and use this to be successful in the civilian workplace.Looking for new challenges amongst the civilian lifestyle.
