Member of the Senior Leadership Team at an HMC/GSA School with academic and pastoral oversight of the Sixth Form.

I have served as a co-opted governor at a local authority primary school since 2015 and became Chair in 2017. As Chair I lead the governors in their support and oversight of the school’s leaders. With financial and strategic responsibility for the school, I help ensure that all aspects of the school allows for teaching and learning that produces the best possible outcomes for pupils.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team I had whole school responsibility for developing Teaching for Learning. I gained significant leadership experience through attendance at weekly SLT meetings termly governors' meetings to discuss whole school priorities. For two years I co-ordinated the school's Action Research programme which all teaching staff completed as part of their continuing professional development. Additionally, I regularly observed colleagues as part of a formative, developmental process to improve the quality of provision for students and identify areas of opportunity to develop staff and share best practice. I played an integral role in developing and implementing new assessment criteria to replace the old National Curriculum levels at KS3. In my second year I took on further responsibility line managing the head of Year 7 and his team. This entailed using data to monitor the academic and pastoral progress of students as they transitioned from primary to secondary school as well as regular contact with parents to support student development.

I taught English, Drama and Media Studies across KS3-5. I was solely responsible for the Theory element of Media at KS5 and co-ordinated year 9 English. As such I analysed data, monitored progress and implemented interventions to support students. In addition to teaching consistently outstanding lessons I was also responsible for mentoring a PGCE participant completing their ITT.

I worked across a portfolio of products, analysing the performance of our brands and those of our competitors. Using this data I helped to devise consumer marketing strategies that helped to grow the business as well as deciding how best to utilise each brand's budget.

A highly demanding role that required exceptional time management and organisational skills. I worked closely with all members of staff to constantly review and improve the content and delivery of lessons thus providing pupils with the best possible education. The role necessitated collaboration with colleagues, parents and students to cater for specific skill sets and needs. As G&T Co-ordinator I was responsible for monitoring progress and establishing interventions to ensure that those students on the Academy register made excellent progress. I delivered consistently outstanding lessons, sharing practice with colleagues as both a Teach First mentor and a coach. My skills were recognised with an ‘Outstanding’ judgment from OFSTED after seven weeks of teaching.
