About Sam Mcgurk

I am highly motivated and hardworking individual, who is eager to learn and develop new skills in a work environment.  My punctuality and attendance were  100% and throughout my education. My leadership skills were recognised, and I became a Sports Leader which involves heading up teams, being able to listen and take orders as well thinking for myself. I enjoy working as a group, and I attended the drama group at school and had a part in the school production as well as performing at the Rep Theatre several times. In 2015, I was chosen to be an ambassador of Shenley Academy and travelled to China in a cultural exchange program. During my time at Sixth Form I have actively participated in many charitable events to help raise money for charities such as: ‘Comic Relief’, ‘MacMillan Cancer research’ and ‘Children in Need’. In July 2017, I was selected and took part in a 3-day university summer school at Goldsmiths university of London where I studied Anthropology. This allowed to gain and improve valuable skills such as working in a team, working independently and using creativity to work.  In 2018, I took part in the Birmingham Pride event along with the Mondelez International company, which involved us representing the Mondelez brand within the Birmingham Pride parade. In 2020, I applied and got accepted for a brand new ITV quiz show called “Winning Combination which aired on ITV on the 26th November 2020. From April 2019-Nov 2019 and Jan 2020-Nov 2020, I worked for the holiday/charter airline Jet2.com based at Birmingham Airport (BHX). Towards the end of 2020, I started working for the NHS as part of the Covid-19 vaccination program however after four months, I decided to leave and start working for Stonegate pubs as a bar team member as the hospitality industry started to reopen after the covid 19 pandemic. 5 months after returning to Jet2.com, I was promoted to the role of Senior Cabin Crew Member (Cabin Manager). As of April 2024, I became the Cabin Safety Representative for Birmingham.
