Working as a consultant with a brand that is 130 years old was a phenomenal experience. What do YUM Brands, Starbucks, Whataburger, Chipotle, and Popeye's all have in common? They are all restaurants that rely on NCR to provide them reliable point of sale systems to keep their businesses running. These are just a handful of customers I have had the privilege of serving through NCR to ensure we deliver products and services our customers need. Zoe's Kitchen, Burger King, Blooming Brands are also companies who rely on NCR everyday that I had the privilege of serving. As NCR shifts to more of a cloud based solution, we focused our strategies less on hardware and physical products and more on the possibilities with software. I worked with a team that was constantly developing new cloud-based solutions to serve hospitality brands through apps, online ordering, and more. I am honored to have been a part of such an honorable company like NCR.

Everyday is an adventure when you are interning at the nation's third most profitable restaurant chain. With the 70 other interns at the company and through the remarkable and intentional staff members, it was truly the summer of a lifetime in which I grew immeasurably professionally, relationally, and even spiritually.Here at the corporate office of Chick-fil-A in Atlanta, I was able to split my summer by being an intern for both the Field Operations department and the Innovation and New Ventures department. Both departments gave me a holistic view of what the business industry is like and allowed me to experience all the small picture things that go into running quickly growing brand.In Field Operations, I shadowed staff members who work in the field each day with our hard-working owners and operators. I managed real projects in which I contacted operators of various locations across the country to gather information for decisions that needed to be made. In the Innovation and New Ventures department, I assisted with hiring new trainers for delivery, researching other brands to maintain competitiveness, and traveling to first-of-it’s-kind delivery focused locations across the country.

Have you ever been driving down the road and noticed a brand new Chick-fil-A and wondered how they efficiently handle the amount of cars in their parking lot? How does a brand new store that just opened up keep up with raving fans that flood the restaurant?Welcome your Grand Opening Trainers. Us trainers are collectively a group of several hundred long time Chick-fil-A team members who are passionate about the product, seek to serve guests, and have a heart to teach others. Grand Opening Trainers are trained on all the Chick-fil-A protocols for food safety, quality, and service. Trainers can do up to 8 openings per year and we stay at each opening anywhere from 1 week to 4 weeks to ensure the new team members are trained well. At each new location we use the "DIR" method, which stands for Demonstrate, Imitate, and Repeat to ensure high quality training and we work alongside cooperate staff and marketing teams to ensure we integrate the high corporate standards. Trainers all have the opportunity to travel anywhere from Toronto, Canada all the way to Los Angeles, CA to assist in an action-packed grand opening of our favorite chicken chain.

Jeff McManus is renowned public speaker and author who strives to grow others. He works with strong leaders across the globe to develop himself and learn new ideas for his content.With a public speaking business that has taken off in just a few short years, I had the opportunity to promote his business across multiple social media channels and interact with potential speaking arrangement customers. When the release of McManus' most recent book, Growing Weeders into Leaders, came around, I managed the marketing of this new content across the different channels and to his existing and new clients.

How do the individual Chick-fil-A restaurants that profit millions of dollars each year run smooth operations and handle guests' needs accurately? Being a part of the High Performance Leadership Team at two different Chick-fil-A locations was a challenging position that taught me countless leadership qualities and skills.Throughout our monthly meetings at our restaurants' offices, our team of six directors vision casted, created goals for our stores, encouraged one another, and challenged each other to grow. In this position it is important to constantly be analyzing reports that are generated in store or from Chick-fil-A Corporate to ensue we are hitting our goals and the high standards that are set.In this Director role, I had the opportunity to constantly be training team members, serve our guests, and create remarkable experiences for all those that came in contact with our brand. I often set goals for our team, whether it was hourly goals or monthly goals, and I enjoyed empowering others to reach their potential. Day to day, I ran shifts by organizing the team members into different positions throughout the store, handled guests' complaints, and managed the money that was generated through sales. I ensured high quality and safe products and services by conducting tests throughout the day. Finally, I handled administrative tasks such as interviewing and on boarding team members, terminating team members, and managing inventory.
