He is a mentor and friend who is passionate about teaching the importance of building character with a foundation centered in positive self-worth. Sam Monroe has served as Executive Director and Program Director with the YMCA of Broward County for over 20 years. During his tenure in the non-profit world, he has gained experience with fund-raising, board development, grant management, and budgeting. He wants to teach his acquired knowledge and build a community of leaders. Being involved with the community he has been privileged to adopt a community of children. Children whom he has committed his time to empower and uplift with every opportunity. Sam’s compassion has had a huge impact on both the youth and adults. His influence was growing and his desire to broaden his services became more significant. This is when Ignite Empowerment was formed.
