This safety critical roll requires me to work as part of a team as well as lead a team to complete the PPM for the units as they come onto depot, as well as working alone out in the sidings to prep trains and fix any faults that occur.I am also trained to operate and work on the bogies of the train so I can remove and replace axles traction motors or bogies as they are required due to pre planned maintenance or reactive maintenance. In addition I am a depot shunter, which is pretty much as it sounds I conduct moves of desiro class 450 & 444 units around the depot to position them for service and bring them onto the maintenance shed for any work required. Along with this role I conduct pre service preparation checks on all units before they leave the confines of the depot ready for service.
