The role included supporting individuals with various learning disabilities in a shared home environment and out in the community. Working with three non-verbal individuals has developed my observational and non-verbal communication skills greatly.

My role and responsibilities included the organization of support staff, leading team meetings, inducting new staff, and staff appraisals. Managing the two services has developed my leadership skills, organizational awareness, leadership skills and confidence. I displayed a passion to drive forward outcome based support-strategies enhancing the life quality, independence and self-esteem of the individuals supported by my teams.

Supporting individuals with a range of learning and/or physical disabilities to carry out tasks of daily living and learn life skills; enabling them to develop their own independence and self-esteem. I supported two individuals, one person with autism spectrum disorder and very challenging behaviors; the other person had increasing physical health needs and high degree of personal care. I developed my ability to communicate in, and adapt to an ever changing environment.
