Lane7 is an energetic boutique entertainment establishment ideal for corporate, social and family events. I began working at Lane7 part-time as a bartender to help to fund my undergraduate studies. Upon finishing my studies, due to my strong work ethic and excellent rapport with all the staff I was promoted to Shift Leader in a full-time capacity. In this position I learnt much more about the company and became accustomed to leading, motivating and challenging members of the 20+ person team through busy weekends and large private events which I was responsible for, to ensure that activities ran on time and customers had the best possible experience. To achieve this, it requires a solid sense of time management, a positive, confident attitude and respectable customer service skills. I also have gained valuable experience dealing with complaints in the circumstances when something doesn’t go as planned.In my time I have also been made accountable for opening-up the three-floored venue. I have also aided with recruitment for the company, which involves vetting CVs, interviewing and training of new and potential employees. Recent expansion of the business gave me opportunity to take trips as part of a small team to help run open days to recruit staff for the new venues.

In my time working both part time and full time as part of the ‘Front of House’ team at the AA Rosette award winning restaurant, I played a vital role in establishing the correct drinks menu that complemented the style of the food being served. In a more up-market establishment the clientele can be incredibly demanding which meant that I had to develop excellent interpersonal skills. I was also involved in the running of events such as cooking demonstrations, wine evenings and wedding. My duties included bar service, offering and making a variety of drinks from cocktails and high-end wines and champagnes to real ale and barista style coffees. I helped in the training of new staff, especially those working on the bar. Greeting customers on arrival, offering advice on the food and drinks available. Taking payments, using the electronic till and cashing up. And maintaining a fully stocked bar and ordering stock.
