Tubular Electrodes are coated with a fine layer boron-10 or uranium-235 for use inside the various radiation detectors produced by Centronic. It is essential for the performance of the detectors that the coating is applied in a uniform fashion at a precise thickness to ensure correct sensitivity. The existing process, to coat these electrodes was examined and its weaknesses addressed. A solution was then proposed, designed and built, and trials were performed. This was a short summer project.
