Sixteen years of experience in the educational field as a Standardized Patient, working closely with medical students, and 5 years teaching in the more conventional setting of Higher Education, both as a graduate assistant and an adjunct instructor, have given me a lot of insight as to my preferences with regard to teaching. I find training a smaller group to be infinitely more effective a means of teaching a skill set than merely lecturing or "talking at" people at arbitrary intervals. Also, my strong writing and editing skills were honed in 3 languages (English, French, and Spanish) during my time at graduate school. I received many prizes and scholarships during my academic career, thanks in no small part to my perseverance in the face of untold hardship, particularly the national emergency that was Hurricane Katrina.
