CSBP is a fertiliser & chemicals manufacturer located in Kwinana. I initially joined on a fixed-term contract to build an effective internal software development team as part of a broad-ranging programme of work. The programme was significantly reduced in scope shortly after I started, and I was handed responsibility for systems integration in the ERP upgrade project. Following the successful completion of that project, I transitioned into a permanent role as part of a small in-house development team, where I was the lead on several successful legacy replacement projects. Notable accomplishments:• Managed the systems integration sub-project of the $4m ERP upgrade project. This involved identifying, reverse-engineering and porting legacy integration components (RPG, CL, SQL and Java) to Biztalk 2006 R2, the testing and planning the deployment. This sub-project was completed on schedule and under budget.• Project Lead for a 5 person legacy rewrite project to manage soil & plant samples & results for CSBP’s agricultural laboratory. The legacy system was an AS/400 ‘green screen’ RPG application written in 1998, and it was replaced with a Microsoft .NET (C#) WinForms application with significant additional functionality to reflect changes to the lab business. It also included integration with the ERP & CRM systems (JDE and Siebel), and some external customers and partners. The project was run using an Agile methodology. It delivered all its objectives, and was regarded as very successful by the customers, project team and sponsor.• Replaced Biztalk with an NServiceBus-based ESB solution to address some shortcomings of the Biztalk platform, and reduce the skilling requirements for the consolidated IT department following the Wesfarmers Energy merger. The NServiceBus solution integrated custom AS/400 applications via Client Access, some process control SCO servers via MQSeries, and external partners via FTP & SOAP.
