Before BH, all of my experience was in the oil and gas industry, however I decided to take a different path and have in no way regretted my decision. I very much enjoy the designing aspect of the job and the impact a well thought out solution can have economically, environmentally, ergonomically and commercially over the life-span of a building. As an MEP engineer I am bound by the global requirement for sustainable development in order to counter the damage done by our industrialist ancestors. Buildings account for approximately 60% of the global energy use and about 40% of that is governed by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). Providing creative solutions utilising digital design tools and technologies, to limit the energy use of buildings is a daily task for MEP engineers. Tools and solutions include, thermal modelling to assess the solar internal heat gain of buildings, CHP analysis to predict the energy demand of future developments from historical data and designing building management systems (BMS). Furthermore implementing shading, utilising free-cooling/heating and natural ventilation are methods I try to incorporate into the projects I have been assigned to. Projects I have worked on since joining BH:β€’ West End Green, Residential and Retail Development, Londonβ€’ Pafilia Tower, Cyprusβ€’ Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester (BID)β€’ Harbour Central, Residential and Retail Development, Londonβ€’ The Taproom, Public House, Londonβ€’ 295 Holloway Road, Student Accommodation, Londonβ€’ Berkeley Homes Head Office Relocation, Londonβ€’ Greenwich Peninsula - Upper Riverside, Residential and Retail Development , Londonβ€’ Al Shaqab Hotel and Equestrian Centre, Doha Show less
