Patient Access Coordinator Lead-Greet Patients and Visitors to obtain and enter demographics, clinical, and financial information into the computer system. Explain a variety of computer systems. Interview patients to accurately obtain all opening information into the computer system. Explain a variety of admission forms and policies, get signatures, hold discussions on financial responsibility and obtain payments, create estimates, counsel self-pay patients, giving discounts and discussing payment options and setting up payment plans for patients. Carry out insurance verification, consent and notification explained, and obtain insurance signatures on admission, clinical and financial forms. Determine expected cost for services being rendered, verify insurance eligibility and obtain insurance notification charge order entry processing. Ensure medical necessity, and authorization for patients, scan all demographics in the system. Schedule appointments and cancel for patients. I'm also a liaison between the Patient Access Manager & Patient Access Supervisor during the shift & I'm responsible for overseeing the workflow of a dedicated work team. I set a positive example for the team members, act as the initial resource for problem solving & ensure that the team performs their day-to-day duties with accuracy & timeliness. I practice and apply in-depth interaction with internal customers, patients, clinical staff and co-workers. I handle a lot of potentially stressful situations as well as multiple tasks at one time. I'm responsible for preparing daily POS Cash report, oversee work queues and review it, assign staff assignments (DAR) are completed in the absence of my supervisor when applicable. I'm also the trainer there, any new team members that join our team there trained by me, also any transfers or cross trainers. I take appropriate action in response to staff shortages. Assists with the completion of staff assignments.
