I provide services related to process analysis, process improvement, and human factors consulting. Process Analysis and Process ImprovementIn workplaces, supervisors and employees often become frustrated with the way that work gets done, with errors that occur, or because work does not get done. Process Analysis can be used to develop an understanding of how work gets done in a step-by-step manner. More importantly, it can be used to identify the situations that lead individuals to engage in undesirable work procedures. Process Improvement activities can then be utilized to address the situations that precede undesirable work procedures.My approach to Process Analysis and Process Improvement is participatory. I begin by observing how work is done. I then share my observations, framed as questions or as suggestions, with the individuals doing the work. This often leads to individuals adopting new strategies that are more efficient and that reduce the likelihood of errors. I then consider the procedures at the company as a whole, document those procedures, and share recommendations that require management for implementation. Because each individual is different, and because each company is different, my recommendations are catered to each individual and to each company.My work has directly led to results, such as:• increased revenue, • identification of new opportunities to increase revenue, • time savings, • improved understanding of procedures, and • procedure redesign.Human Factors ConsultingI have experience advising clients in all stages of the product design process – including proactive product review, development and review of warning labels and instructions, identification and evaluation of relevant regulations and standards, proactive risk and failure analysis, consumer product recalls, and litigation.
