It wasn’t until she moved to the island as an incoming freshman that she found her niche with BIR as a lightweight rower. As a then-recent transplant to Bainbridge, she credits crew with helping her develop a deep sense of community and broader self-confidence. With BIR, Sam qualified for and competed at four youth national championships, with her boat ranking 6th in the country her senior year. During her time with BIR, she set multiple lightweight erg test club records, participated in and won the Northwest Indoor Championships, and served as team captain.Sam was recruited to Stanford’s lightweight team based on her BIR results. She rowed throughout her four years and captained her senior year, earning four IRA national championship titles, CRCA National Scholarships, and All-American Team Honors recognition during her time with the Cardinal.Sam now lives in Seattle and works for Madrona Venture Labs. She loves cycling, spending time with her family and friends, and attempting the NYTimes Spelling Bee in her spare time. She understands what it is like to row in high school and is passionate about how the sport unlocks youth potential.---- Constructed training plan and coached rowers ages 32 – 78 training for Masters National Championship.- Worked with junior athletes ages 13 – 18 to increase endurance and strength for fall and spring rowing seasons. - Featured alumni speaker at the 2018 BIR Auction.- CPR certified. - Conducted research and took ownership for portfolio of concurrent searches, all for senior leadership positions in engineering, product, security, and design.- Worked with consultants, fellow analysts, and client(s) to find successful placements. - Interviewed potential prospects to present to client hiring managers.- Assisted with internal Analyst and Recruiting Coordinator hiring.

- Worked 8 – 12 hours a week.- Acted as liaison between directors of Hume Center and 24 writing tutors.- Compiled tutors’ availabilities to create quarterly work schedule at Hume and in satellite locations across campus.- Planned nine professional training workshops a year to discuss tutoring strategies like fellowship writing and working with anxious writers.- Held one-on-one 30-minute tutoring sessions with Stanford students to review written materials for undergraduate, graduate and PhD level courses. Coached multi-lingual learners on communicating in their non-native language.- Conducted interviews to assist in hiring process for new peer tutors.

- Division I lightweight rower. Devoted 20 hours weekly to practice. - Assisted outreach caseworkers and contacted federal agencies on behalf of constituents.- Attended weekly meetings between legislative staffers and Seattle Indivisible to write report on salient issues.- Answered constituent legislative inquiries over the phone and assisted in compiling weekly phone log for Senator Cantwell.- Conducted research on legislation and regional issues to brief the senator's staff members.

- Competed at USRowing U23 National qualifiers in the lightweight women's 2-. Trained twice daily for six weeks leading up to the event.- Placed 2nd overall.- Coached junior athletes rowing at Mercer/PNRA to subsidize training costs.

- Attended briefings and wrote memos for legislative aides on briefings regarding space policy, foreign humanitarian crises, and potential USPS influence on the 2016 election. - Led 3 constituent tours of the Capitol Building weekly. - Responded to public legislative inquiries over the phone and assisted in compiling weekly phone log for Senator Murray.

- Prepared presentation at inaugural Game Faces event to highlight struggles of student-athlete experience at Stanford.- Spoke on difficulty of recovering from injury and importance of resiliency.

- Reviewed depositions and witness interviews. - Attended trials and court hearings for most dangerous offenders in King County, including anarchist bombers and serial killers. - Assisted paralegals with record review and redaction of confidential witness information. - Listened to 80+ hours of inmates’ jail calls to fellow gang members and compiled report on frequent topics for prosecuting attorneys.

- Worked on team to build to complete eight mile multi-use path system in Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve, including Knudsen, Peters, Ridge, and Veterane trails.- Removed invasive species such as ivy and Scotch broom in public parks and land trusts across Bainbridge Island with heavy machinery.

- Hired by the parks district to work with a team eradicating noxious plants from public lands
