"If a nation loses its storytellers, it loses its childhood." by Peter Handke. As an avid reader of literature I can attest to the truth in this statement. Some of the most joyous and horrific moments in the history of this nation have been found in literature. Handke's quote manifests the importance that literature plays as instructional material due to the ingrained human story within it. Sadly, in today's world it can be easy to forget or overlook the importance of discussion literature for pleasure. Often too many students (and their parents) can groan at the idea of reading an actual book. I can aid in the effort to make this more widely known. Literacy (reading and writing) levels are a constant struggle for this nation. Everyday I see many students and peers who are afraid of developing their own writing. Published in Trinity Review 2018.
