About Samantha Marks

Safeguarding professional with experience in the charity and youth sector, specialising in online safety. Over the last few years I have worked with a variety of organisations, including local community-based volunteering, national support charities, youth organisations and large international organisations. Whether they were working with refugees, conflict, disability, homelessness, employment or community organising, they all sought to improve their safeguarding practice. I am passionate about helping organisations understand how to embed safeguarding into their everyday practice. This means making sure people's voices are heard and listened to, understanding safer working practices and fulfilling their safeguarding duties while also looking after themselves. I am focused on making sure we keep messages simple, even if the mechanics behind them seem complicated. I believe in empowerment, positive engagement and a values-based approach to working in partnership. I thrive on developing good relationships and understanding how people and organisations work. Through our relationships, I believe we can develop innovative solutions and succeed by doing things differently and challenging when things just don’t work.
