I've been a maker all my life. I earned a BFA from NSCAD in 1994 and worked as a potter for many years, sometimes in Canada and sometimes in Asia or the Americas with indigenous crafts people. My MDes research investigated craft as a tool of circular economy. You can read more about it in my Master of Design thesis published in May 2018, "Objects that Create Community: Effects of 3D Printing and Distributed Manufacturing beyond Circular Economy." My PhD research at Ryerson is focussed on Makerspaces as Education spaces.I'm also a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO & certified in Counselling with OAMHP. I have been offering Arts & Talk-based Psychotherapy to women, men, trans people, children & youth in individual, couples & group settings for 20 years. In my private psychotherapy practice, I use painting, drawing, sculpting, writing, drama, music & movement techniques to explore relationship problems, life transitions, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, anger & perfectionism. Using the arts helps clients see problems and behaviour from new perspectives. In talk therapy, we find new insights and concrete ideas of how to change habits in order to create the life clients want.
