I am a second year graduate student at Loyola University Chicago working towards my MS in Biology. I currently work in a Malaria Biology lab where I am investigating the role of a protein in the germline of Anopheles mosquitoes. Through this project I am learning new CRISPR techniques, and I am enjoying the independence and challenge of designing and executing my own experiments.I have been working in a research lab for over two years now, and my research interests include parasitology, biomedicine, and stem cell research. I am well versed in many molecular techniques including RT-qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and cloning. I am also proficient in proteomic techniques including affinity chromatography, protein purification, and protein gels.During my undergraduate career I received two research fellowships, the Mulcahy and Provost fellowships. Through these fellowships I presented my research at the St. Albert's Day Symposium at the Stritch School of Medicine and at Loyola's Undergraduate Research Symposium. I also graduated with High Biology Honors for excellence in research and GPA.
