About Samantha Weinstein

I traveled up and down the West Coast to gather legal expertise after leaving my home state of Wisconsin. In San Diego, California, I graduated top of my class at California Western School of Law. While attending law school, I traveled to Alaska for two internships – in Anchorage, with Trustees for Alaska, and in Juneau, with NOAA’s Office of General Counsel. After graduating, I moved up to Portland, Oregon, for my Environmental Law LL.M., again graduating top of my class. The temptation to return to Alaska was too much, prompting me to leave Portland and accept a position as a judicial clerk in the Alaska Superior Court. I am a trained a mediator, who enjoyed conducting mediations for the Anchorage District Court and learning from Mr. Sam Imperati, Executive Director at the Institute for Conflict Management in Portland, Oregon.

As I shopped around for similar pieces to complement, I became fascinated with steampunk fashion. Never one to become defeated when I couldn't find (or afford) exactly what I was looking for, I started to learn how to make my own necklaces and earrings. After quite a bit of trial and error, I created a collection I love wearing with my everyday clothing. People started asking me to make them gifts and if I was selling jewelry anywhere in Juneau. The more they asked, the more I thought - "I should really fund this jewelry making habit of mine!"There was born Bookie Designs, in honor of my grandmother, Doris Bookstaff.www.facebook.com/BookieDesigns907 Show less
